Business Diploma of Security & Risk Management Launches Online

What is the Business Diploma of Security and Risk Management?

Known in its technical form as CPP50611, the Diploma of Security and Risk Management is an entry level training program available from IgniteLearning. It will teach students the common functions associated with monitoring, risk assessment, client consultation and other factors that can help a business to enhance their operations.

The qualification itself is nationally recognised by the Australian Security Risk Management Association, who define the standards for the curriculum itself. Introduction and bridging courses for English and Maths can be tutored by SLTutoring for students entering these programs without the prerequisite level of entry level skills.

What does the course consist of?

From the offset students will be introduced to a variety of real-life practices and events, all of which will help them to obtain a great understanding of the security and risk management (RM) field. Unlike typical RM pathways, this course doesn’t focus on health and safety, instead opting to pursue education in security in general.

Students will be able to study online without deadline, with a suggested completion time of 12 months (or 520 hours). This can allow plenty of time for busy individuals to tackle the course, without feeling overly pressured regarding deadlines and time constraints. As a result, the program is very popular amongst those that are currently employed (either within the security industry, or outside of it).

Furthermore, many employers are willing to consider hiring individuals that are yet to complete the course, with the understanding that once qualified, the student will be able to provide a variety of benefits and improvements to the company that has employed them. As of 2016, there are only a few educational institutes offering this type of course and after years of development, the latest modules contain information provided from more than 50 experts in the security field.

Although subjects may seem fairly basic to some, the reality is that these vital components of the course are a necessity for any security officer to understand – especially those that intend to work within high priority sectors. Once qualified many students opt to go onto advanced forms of the course, all of which are available to undertake online.

The majority however, will instead opt to apply directly for employment – a possibility that can be made even easier by possessing this form of qualification. Many companies actively search for qualified security experts and some of the most popular industries include banking, finance, entertainment, political, state, government, and school and transport sectors.

With no deadlines to meet and no formal submission dates, students are permitted to take this course as slowly, or as rapidly, as they prefer. Many choose to complete all associated coursework to reduce the duration of their studying, but as the awarding body allow limitless timeframes, there’s no reason to rush the contents of the course if a slower pace is preferred.
